The Dolls of Japan

Dolls of JapanA more gentle experience was a visit on Tuesday, our day-off, to the exhibition of Japanese dolls in the National Museum: The Dolls of Japan: Shapes of Prayer, Embodiments of Love. It is an exquisite
selection of dolls from different parts of Japan and from a variety of eras.

The detail of the beautiful textiles was amazing. My favourite was a modern doll: a boy balanced on one foot and with great concentration holding a spinning top which he has just caught in his hand.
