Prayers for Peace

Prayers for PeaceOn Saturday evening the National Evangelical Church (reported as the National Anglican Church in the Gulf Daily News!) held a Prayers for Peace gathering and I was invited to participate and  also recruited Jesus Alvarado (from Columbia) to pray the Prayer of St Francis in Spanish. There were prayers from native speakers in 16 languages and the Governor of the Capital Governorate was in attendance. As well as the Christian community, there were representatives from the Sunni and Shia communities, the Jewish community and the Bahais. Given the distrust between Sunni and Shia these initiatives are important, but I find that I get very irritated by the presence of so many photographers hovering all over the place. It is really impossible not to be distracted. Are the prayers directed to the Almighty or to the press reports next day?
