This year’s Nativity Play was a spontaneous production “almost from scratch” in that there had been just one rehearsal and many of those who came on Friday were draughted in to take a part. Two adult readers acted as narrators – Rebecca Kuttickal and Graham Roberts, who took the part of the innkeeper, who “was there”, and therefore able to give an eye witness account. The play came from Creative Ideas for Whole Church Family Worship by Jan Brind and Tessa Wilkinson, a book that I’d bought at the Greenbelt Festival in the summer. It is well written, involved the whole congregation in making animal and other noises and actions to represent the different characters, and yet caught the wonder of the first Christmas. |
