ECC Dinner Dance

ECC Dinner DanceThis is always a good event and once again it was held in the Radisson Blu Diplomat Hotel, which is an excellent venue. There is nothing pretentious about the occasion, those who want to dress up (this year in national dress) and is an opportunity for the Ecumenical Conference of Charity, the social outreach arm of the churches in Bahrain, under the umbrella of the Cathedral, to showcase its ministry and raise funds for vital work in Bahrain to help and support those in need. As the lectionary gospel reading reminds us this coming week; “for I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was naked and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison and you visited me.”(Matthew 25:35) This is really a summary of the ECC’s work. AsNestor, the Chairperson of the ECC reminded us, from examples that he gave of people who’d been helped over the year, any one of them could have been us. And Jesus identifies himself with the needy. Many thanks and congratulations to the volunteers, from different churches, who give their time for this work and in organizing such a good occasion.
