Late yesterday afternoon I received a call a request to go to Sakhir Palace as part of a clergy group to wish His Majesty the King Eid Mubarak. I called Mark Steiner, the senior Chaplain with the US Navy and also the new Royal Navy Chaplain, Ralph Barber, who were both delighted to join the delegation and they came to the cathedral at 6.15am, an early start as we were expected to be at the palace by 7am. It was good to meet the Bishop of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church who had both studied for some time in London and also was the priest in their church in London, using St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe as their centre of worship, a wonderful name that opens up visions of Narnia. |
