 Paul Mellor the RAF Chaplain for the Gulf region was in Bahrain and joined us at the cathedral morning service with Squadron Leader Marshall Kinnear, who oversees the RAF in Bahrain. They joined us for lunch and a swim at the Brit Club. Paul is a Methodist Minister and was chaplain at RAF Lyneham, having the experience of responding to bereaved families of service personnel killed in action in Afghanistan. We talked about the possibility of a Battle of Britain Service at the Cathedral in September, which would be a first in my time in the Cathedral. We hope to confirm this soon. I treasure the links that we have with those serving out here with armed services both for the formal remembrance occasions but also for the alternative non-service family that we can provide as a Cathedral family. |
