On Monday 24th June eleven of us from the Cathedral came together for a meal at the British Club and then moved on to see Be My Baby, presented by the Manama Theatre Club. Set in the UK in the 1960’s – evoked not only by 60’s songs but also with news flashes during scene changes – a brilliant cast caught the pathos of a group of pregnant young women at a home for mothers, whose children would be taken away and adopted at birth.
Given that this was the first night, it really was a memorable production though it was disappointing that I was among about three men in the audience. |
