On Tuesday Tricia and I visited the Joint GCC Archaeology Exhibition – Urban development in the Arabian Peninsula: Complexity and Continuity at the National Museum . It’s a fascinating exhibition featuring some very striking exhibits. There were flint tools, not unlike one I picked up off the desert floor a couple of years ago dating back to BC 5000, pottery vessels of various sorts and the wonderful Dilmun seals and a favourite of mine was the very rural looking fellow with a squint and a cloth cap- he could have been a Cumbrian sheep farmer. |
