 It was a delight to welcome back Ahmed Al Ghanem on flute, accompanied by our own Jill Laping for a concert programme that included Eastern, Western and Middle–Eastern composers: Bach, Beethoven, Saint-Saens, Faure, Debussy, Yamada, Taki, Marhoon, but undoubtedly the climax of the programme was a world premiere piece Samaee Ghanem composed by Ahmed himself. As I said at the conclusion of the concert, I am delighted that the Cathedral can be used to celebrate the creative gifts that God has given us and that both Bahraini and expatriate performers and audience can come together to appreciate the beauty of music and discover another language of peace. Ahmed said he appreciated bein g able to play in a sacred space. |
