Antarctic Expedition

lvrdIt was Standing room only in the deanery on Sunday evening for the first Living Room Dialogue of the new academic year and deservedly so for Amal Al Saffar, a twenty-one year old student who was selected to join an expedition of young people from all over the world to visit Antartica. She has come back with a wonderfully infectious enthusiasm and a changed outlook on the world. Amal Al SaffarShe highlighted in particular the connectedness of our world and how actions in one part of the world impact upon the life of Antarctica and how the collective small actions of individuals can contribute to the impact on the environment; refusal to use supermarket plastic bags, turning our air cons off, walking rather than taking short journeys in the car.
