Harvest Festival Weekend: 10th -12th October 2014
As ever the Harvest Festival was a weekend of celebration, gratitude and generosity. We had a special gift ‘day’ and over BD 461 has been raised for the Eye Clinic in Aden, a beacon of light in a country that regularly seems on the edge of chaos and food gifts were given to the ECC and Mission to Seafarers. This was added to at the St Christopher’s School where the children collected a record amount of food. We took the whole clergy team down for the Assembly and Jon Lavelle acted the part of a Papa John’s delivery man to perfection. It could be a nickname that sticks.
On the Saturday afternoon the World Harvest Super and Barn Dance drew a big gathering, more than one hundred people, because it was linked in with the ecumenical Inspire Festival. There were several members of the Rivers of Joy Church who came, where much of the energy for the Festival had come.
