With Elizabeth George from Bahrain I joined a group of people invited by Bishop Michael from across the Diocese to consider some important issues of ministry. It was a productive day responding to some urgent concerns as well as taking a more strategic look at ministry issues. One of the more immediate concerns was the placement of ordinands, who are in training and will be looking to serve as curates in the Diocese. More strategic issues related to testing vocations, providing resources for learning and training, and continuing ministerial development for those in licensed ministries.
After the forum with a little while before my flight I wandered round one of Dubai’s glitzy malls –the Wafi City Mall in the shape of a pyramid and with an Ancient Egyptian theme. I have to say that after a visit to Dubai – the great Disneyworld of the Gulf, it is always a relief to get on a plane to return to Bahrain. |
