Remembering Tree

Remembering_Tree

The story of the Remembering Tree is best told in pictures, but a big thank you to Angela Murray to sow the seed, keep encouraging and bringing together the various contributions which were dedicated with the following prayer following The Nine Lessons and Carols on Sunday 21st December:

Heavenly Father, we dedicate this tree as a focus for our remembering, reflecting and celebrating all those whose lives have been special to us. We thank you for the creative skills of so many within our community and beyond, who have knitted, woven and crocheted these squares, and for the prayers that have been said and the memories that have been evoked in the making of them. We thank you for the way this tree links us with different places in our Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf and for the joy in sharing this project with them. And we thank you that these squares will, in due time, be transformed into blankets and provide warmth for children in need. Finally, we give thanks that, in Christ, neither space nor time, neither life nor death, can separate us from your love and our love for one another, for the glory of Jesus’ name. Amen.

We can look forward to the book that will tell the whole story of Remembering Trees in different Chaplaincies in the Diocese.
