Alistair Auld is no stranger to the Cathedral organ, but it was a reminder to all who attended what a fine instrument it is when played by a Master. We were treated to a very varied programme: a Toccata by Max Reger, two fugues from JS Bach and also two seasonal Chorale Preludes Chorale, the beautiful Priere à Notre Dame, building up to a climax with the Carillon Sortie by Henri Mulet. In addition Herbert Suarez, a Columbian Tenor, sang Comfort ye and Every valley from the Messiah which was an unexpected extra treat for the audience. |
