It was good to welcome Hrayr Jebejian, General Secretary of The Bible Society in the Gulf, as preacher at the Friday morning service. He brought together a number of strands in his sermon, referring briefly to his Armenian heritage and the fact of so many of his family had been murdered in the Armenian genocide, his chosen text from I Timothy 1: 3-6 and the work of the Bible Society in the Gulf, not necessarily bringing physical change to peoples’ circumstances, but bringing hope which transforms perspectives.
The formal opening of the Bible Society Resources Centre, adjacent to St Christopher’s, took place on Saturday. What was little more than a glorified broom cupboard is now a much larger space with opportunity to display many more Bibles and other Christian resources. |
