Thanksgiving and Hannukah

HannukahWe were privileged to share in an event that will not take place for another 79,043 years apparently: a Thanksgiving Dinner combined with the celebration of Hannukah. We were invited to share in this special occasion by the US Ambassador and his wife, Thomas and Bonnie Krajeski in what was very much a family occasion and following the lighting of the Menorah, the seven branched candlestick I had the honour of saying a prayer of thanksgiving – a rare honour for a Brit on a very much American occasion.

Thanksgiving

The food was amazing – a turkey with all the rich trimmings followed by some amazing pies and it was good to meet some new friends from the American community and some who are potential Living Room Dialogue speakers. A family from Saudi was amazed that faith could be expressed so openly in Bahrain, but this is one of the privileges of living in this open part of the Middle East.
