 We then travelled on to Washington where we were met off the train by John Hagen, the father of Col. Bob Hagan who until the summer was serving with the US Marine Corps in Bahrain. John had family links with Luton where our daughter Alex works as a lay Chaplain in schools. We walked ourselves off our feet in Washington beginning in the Capitol and then weaving our way back from Arlington Cemetery down the National Mall with its impressive monuments to presidents and significant figures in American history and taking in the White House as well. |
