 Elizabeth George and I flew to Dubai for a very intensive two days training by Malcolm and Buzz Squires, who came to us from the Church of Wales, as selectors for those exploring their vocation to the priesthood. We then had two days putting our training into practice with four people, two from the Gulf and two from Cyprus, in a Selection Conference. Each candidate had six half-an-hour interviews, were involved in a group discussion, and had to introduce a topic and lead discussion on it and sum up (all in ten minutes), and they also had a written exercise. All of us involved felt an immense privilege and responsibility in being involved in testing others vocations, but also great confidence in the process. It was a joy that all candidates were recommended to the Bishop for training. |
